It’s a seriously nice design in person. I love every part of it, and it makes me even more excited for the Type-R that will be based on that design.
Oh, and I’ve decided on the R sedan.

It looks like the car you’d find in the Oxford English Dictionary next to the word ‘Generic’

Saw one on display a couple weeks ago. Two things really stuck me:
1: It’s BIG. But lower roofline than you’d expect. Due, I think, to the chunkiness of the overall form.
2: It could only be a Japanese car. It is so Japanese.

It was the first thing I noticed in a parking lot containing old Datsuns and even an MG. Not so sure it’s generic.

Sure, it’ll stand out in a crowd of old cars. In a modern parking lot? Doubt it.
Also, you have to take your bias into account. OF COURSE you’ll notice it in a parking lot, you want a Type R of it.

I've seen it in the wild and I quite like it. Saying it is generic is ridiculous. The last Gen Malibu was generic.

I drove one a couple weeks ago. Seems fine.

MY bias? You’ll shit on anything that wasn’t built by General Motors! Also I’m not that biased. Honda has been having some poor customer support and service as of late. I’m also not a big fan of their infotainment system, but it seems that’s changing. When I reviewed the 2015 Fit, I gave it a 60/100 . It had a good interior and it drove nice, but again, the infotainment system is garbage and it’s too “techy” for its own good. FOR FUCKS SAKE, KNOBS ARE BETTER, HONDA. I wasn’t a fan of the 9th gen Civic. That one didn’t look very appealing. I also don’t like the typical Honda crowd, what with their far cans and useless spoilers all over the place.
If someone were to ask me what midsize sedan to get, I’d recommend a Camry. If someone were to ask me what compact sedan to get, I’d recommend a Corolla. And so on and so forth. Toyota builds far far better cars than Honda or even Nissan and I’m willing to admit that. I grew up with Hondas and I happen to like them. I genuinely like the 10th gen Civic styling in the same way I like the new Prius styling. It’s distinctive.

Grr I’m biased and I demand you say it’s the best car you’ve ever driven or else I’ll kill you to death or something.

A buddy of mine works at our local Honda dealer so I went and drove one with the turbo in Aegean Blue a couple of weeks ago. Not a fan of the CVT (in general, not limited to this car) but it wasn’t a bad little car. Actually had a decent amount of interior room as well for what it was.

Eh. CVT. Engine. Wheels. It’s an appliance.

Grr, I find that wide band across the front grille absolutely hideous. Still miss the 8th-gen design: quirky but clean and generally pleasing, IMO.
Almost as much as I miss the 3rd-gen! Nnph those 80s lines :)~~

I actually rather like the new Civic and think it’s about all the car most people looking for a nice, regular car will ever need. It’s roomy, comfy, decent to drive, gets good mileage, has decent pep from the turbo engine but runs on regular gas, and can be loaded up with all the usual luxury car gizmos if you’re into that sort of thing. A fully-loaded Civic Touring at $27k is a lot of car for the dollar.

The 8th gen was a nice design. It was so clean.
As far as those 80’s boxes go, I have a serious thing for that style. Unnnfffffffff and so on.

Okay, so, first of all, calm the fuck down.
I don’t shit on anything not built by general motors. I shit on a lot of German cars, but I really like Audi. I’ve owned two Hondas, I just find modern ones boring. Not a fan of Subaru, I know too many people with ones that blow up. Ford? Not a fan, but their cars are fine. I love McLaren, I quite like Jaguar, I enjoy Mazdas, and I’m the biggest goddamn Kia fanboy on this forum. You think you know me, but you don’t, so back the fuck off.
Secondly, I wasn’t being negative. I was pointing out that you have a bias. Bias isn’t bad. Let me give an example of what I meant: I’m a die-hard Kansas Jayhawks fan. When I’m out of town and see someone wearing a KU shirt, it stands out to me. It can be as simple as a t-shirt with a small Jayhawk on the breast and I’ll spot it and go ‘hey, a jayhawk!’. Would you do the same? Very likely not. You probably wouldn’t notice it at all. So what I was saying was you like Honda, at least to some extent greater than some, and have previously stated your intentions of buying a Type R on here. That’s great, I’m happy for you, I hope you enjoy it. But as a result of that desire you’re going to notice the new Civic more than someone like me would because I don’t have any interest in it. From my perspective it wouldn’t stand out. A Chevy Sonic would because I own one and like it, so I see one and I’m like ‘hey, another Sonic’. But I bet you don’t see a Sonic in a sea of economy cars and pay it any attention.
TL;DR don’t take everything personally, I wasn’t trying to insult you.

The higher trim levels with upgraded wheels look good, the lower trims with steelies and hubcaps look dumb. I’m told they drive nice though.

I think the new Honda accord sport is really nice. I saw the new civic going down the highway at night and the tai lights really stood out.

The tail lights are nuts. Saw one on the road at night a week or so ago and was like, what the hell is that?!
Definitely striking and unique. When you drive up on it, you’re not expecting a Civic, that’s for damn sure.

No kidding. It’s pretty great overall, I think. A big departure for a Japanese company, making such a bold move with their bread-and-butter car.

Yeah, it looks good, and big is right. Easier to see it as an Accord than a Civic, but that happens with all model lines across almost all brands.
